GENERAL INFORMATION

The Aquatic Toxicity Workshop is held annually in a different region of Canada to draw a wider interest among ecotoxicologists, and gain a national perspective of current and emerging issues. These 3 day Workshops are traditionally held in the fall, and usually attended by 300-400 participants where 150-200 platform and poster papers are presented in either official languages.

Each workshop is hosted by a Local Organizing Committee on behalf on the ATW Board of Directors. Workshops are organized on a two-year planning schedule, where arrangements for the date and location are finalized during the first year, and program and other details finalized the following year. Groups interested in hosting a future workshop are required to submit a written proposal, and may contact an ATW Board member for additional information.

ATW became a registered Canadian corporation in 1984, and is administered by a 6 member Board of Directors. Three are permanent members including the Continuity Chair, and three regular members that include the chairs of the past, current and following workshops. The Board will provide guidance on issues that may affect the future direction of the workshop series, and serve in an advisory capacity to the Organizing Committees. Workshops are organized following a standard operational procedure, with themes that reflect the interests of the organizers.
