ATW 2010 Information for Exhibitors
ABOUT ATW:
The Aquatic Toxicity Workshop is held annually in a different region of Canada, with the goals of attracting a wider interest among ecotoxicologists and gaining a national perspective on current emerging issues. These 4-day workshops are traditionally held in the fall, and are generally attended by up to 400 representatives from the federal and provincial governments, academia, private industry and consulting companies.
Exhibition at ATW provides a promising opportunity for your organization to advertise both during the four-day event and on the ATW Website (where website advertisement can last for up to 6 months following the end date of ATW 2010). Conference exhibition also provides an excellent chance to generate awareness of your organization and its activities and to network with a receptive and influential group of aquatic and environmental scientists from across Canada. As well, a student Career Centre will be made available, and students will be encouraged to bring along cover letters and resumes for distribution to potential employers.
THE VENUE:
The ATW 2010 Workshop will be held from October 3 to 6, 2010, at the Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre in Toronto Ontario. The workshop theme is Big Cities – Big Challenges – Great Solutions: urbanization and environmental impacts. In light of this Workshop being held within a heavily-urbanized centre, that is only a short walk to the beautiful waters of Lake Ontario, we felt that this theme was appropriate and in great need of enlightened discussion. These waters have undergone many stresses over the years, from the early days of York when raw sewage polluted the Lake, through years of industrialization producing contaminants such as heavy metals and PCBs and now perhaps, full cycle back to sewage issues pertaining to the presence of new and emerging contaminants that are being used by the millions of inhabitants of Toronto.
