ATW 2010 Short Course
Title: Environmental Toxicology: Testing for Effects and Interpretation of Environmental Data.
Instructors:Keith Solomon and Jordana Van Geest, University of Guelph, Guelph, ON
Course Description: This full-day course will inform participants on the principles and practices of testing for toxicity of environmental samples such as water and sediment. It will also describe recent advances in the methodologies used for toxicity testing. A key component of the course provides guidance on how the data from toxicity tests are used. It will include how to interpret toxicity data and how to link toxicity data to environmental measurements of conditions in the field using deterministic and probabilistic risk assessment. The source will be presented using lectures and in-class exercises to illustrate techniques and approaches. This course will be useful to those involved in field sampling, laboratory testing and to environmental regulators.
Instructor biographies :
Keith Solomon is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Environmental Sciences and Director of the Centre for Toxicology at the University of Guelph.
